Welcome Peanut Butter!
October 28, 10
It's taken mommy way too long to write about Peanut Butter, the newest addition to our family. She's an English Mastiff in brindle born on May 25, 2010 in North Carolina.

Even though mommy always thought of getting a fawn Mastiff, the most typical color, she fell in love with the brindle. In fact, the name Peanut Butter was supposed to represent the typical English Mastiff color plus it's one of Jamie's favorite foods once again. More important than the appearance though was its temperament. Peanut Butter's mommy Sasha, pictured here with Jamie, was probably the biggest trigger for mommy to decide on getting a puppy from this breeder. The dog needs to be able to get along well with Jamie. When mommy asked the breeder how Sasha reacts to kids approaching her, he said Sasha would let the kids do whatever to her, even take away her toys and she wouldn't do a thing. Seeing how easily it was for Jamie to interact with her, I believed him and I'm glad I did because Peanut Butter turned out to be just like that, very easy going and seems to like kids or anyone a lot as a matter of fact.

Immediately after mommy got Peanut Butter in beginning of September, she tried to let Peanut Butter and Jamie spend much quality time together. We did so many things. Beach...

...park...unfortunately no matter how many times we tell Jamie to be gentle to dogs, he still gets very rough sometimes, we need to tell him over and over again...fortunately though, Jamie got to spend a lot of quality time with super gentle the most amazing Bailey so he learned to trust dogs. :>

We did so much in North Carolina in such a short time! When we made a stop over in LA, Jamie & Peanut Butter took a photo in front of the house mommy lived in during her high school years.

Peanut Butter survived the flight from North Carolina to LA then from LA to Bangkok. Once she was in Bangkok, besides setting up a proper routine for her, the most important thing on the agenda was to have her get along with her other siblings. With Yo, it was super easy. Had them meet in a neutral place with Peanut Butter in the crate. Yo did a bit sniffing, not too interested and then moved on. Next a walk together as a pack. That was it. Yo welcomed Peanut Butter to the family. :>

With Pizza, it was a bit more tricky. When Pizza first joined our family, he got along with Yo almost right away. But with Peanut Butter, Pizza was probably intimidated by her giant size. She wanted to approach and play but he was always backing away with terrified look. For this period, Peanut Butter was kept on leash the whole time for better control. However, in a few days, Peanut Butter seemed to understand Pizza didn't want any direct interaction with her. She started to stay away from Pizza. When that happened, Pizza gained his confidence and started approaching Peanut Butter. It was from then Peanut Butter didn't need a leash on at home anymore. Now 3 weeks after we have been back, Peanut Butter and Pizza get along so well they even started playing hide and seek!

By beginning of her 5th month, she is about the weight of Jamie now, both around 20 kg. She's small as an English Mastiff even among her litter but she's the greatest!
The whole process of getting Peanut Butter, taking care of her in North Carolina, and transporting her from the States all the way to Bangkok was nothing easy. But it was all worth it. She's everything mommy has imagined in an English Mastiff but so much more. She's the family dog mommy's always hoped for. Mommy got Yo without any knowledge or skill in how to raise a dog. Now she's paying for alot of her own mistakes. But with Peanut Butter, everything is well planned and prepared. In such short time, we already share so much special moments together. Imagine our life from now on...

The next doggy?
May 23, 10
Mommy always wanted big dogs. It's funny to hear this cuz Yo is so small. :) But it's true and she plans to get the largest dog, English Mastiff. Here is Hummer, the biggest dog in Thailand.

It's really not as big as it sounds. They are just heavy, averaging about 200lbs. Jamie already thought of possible names like Yogurt, Salad...yes, his favorite food again. Anyway, we won't bring home the new guy until after mommy finish her dog trainer training course in USA. Might even pick up a pup from there since it's extremely difficult to find Mastiffs in Thailand.

Blind date for Pizza
May 16, 10
Heard from a friend there's a female American Curl who's looking for a charming partner. Pizza is not neutered because he hasn't displayed any territorial behavior all our friends had said a sexually mature male cat would display. And Pizza's personality is so wonderful that it'll be a waste to cut off his chance of having descendants. Having said that, Pizza is not in rush to reproduce.
On the other hand, the owners of that female cat want to have her babies before they spay her when she turns 2.
We met up and she turned out to be a beautiful semi long hair called Ume, meaning Plum in Japanese. They are the same age. They are both gentle but Ume is much more ladylike. Even with her cage open, she'd just sit still. Pizza, on the other hand, is curious and sticked his head out for exploration as soon as the door was open.
Ume is more cat like in term of social wise. She would hide when people visit her house. Pizza would go up immediately and rub himself against them no matter who they are.
We discussed what to do with the kittens. They said they want to take them all, giving some to friends and keeping some for themselves. But not for sale because they want to know they are putting them in good homes.
Even though Pizza is in no rush, if he could be of help, no problem. But we made it clear that Pizza will bear no responsibility as a father. Just hit and run :>. How easy to be a guy!!!

Outing for Pizza
March 26, 10
This was already back in Decemeber 2009. We took Pizza to the dogpark for grooming. Also for him to enjoy the outside air and to socialize with other dogs and people. Jamie and Pizza are so buddies they sat close together thru out the whole ride.

Even their facial expressions looked similar.

All 3 enjoyed the park at their own paces. Such a great moment.

Generous Pizza
March 24, 10
Back in January when our neighbors left their kitten Miki with us worrying him wouldn't eat, this was the video that proved he did. And it showed how generous Pizza was. Even though he was much bigger than Miki, not only did he not mind sharing food with Miki, he even let Miki pushed him off the food. :)

Sleeping with Yo

Yo is not as cuddling as Pizza with Jamie. So when they sleep together, they have a certain distance in between but it's still cute.

Yo and Pizza are no doubt a big part of Jamie's life. They deserve their own page.
Here they were waiting in Jamie's room for him to fall asleep. Sweet.
