Self evaluation
October 11, 2011
I was walking with Jamie near the house and our neighbor told me, "Jamie is so well behaved when he is with you." She continued to explain that he is very wild and physical when he is with the babysitter. I guess I have to reevaluate my parenting style a little to get to the root of the problem.

Google Maps
Jan 26, 11
We were looking for the directions to an amusement park in Thailand and used Google Maps. After finding the location, I decided to look up my old high school. Jamie was sitting with me and I told him, "Look, there's Orange High School." Since Jamie has been attending a Thai/English bilingual school, a Mandarin school on Saturdays, and spent a couple of months at a school in North Carolina, he felt that it was necessary to ask what language they speak at Orange High School. I told him that they speak Spanish. He then told me that he goes to Apple High School and that they speak Chinese there.

Sk8er boy
Dec 30, 10
To improve his balance and move him closer to my goal of being able to surf with my son, I bought a skateboard for Jamie. I hope he will not pick-up the unfortunate side-effect of most skaters (smoking). But, I think it will be inevitable that he will pick-up chicks.

Company Internet Report
October 15th, 2010
Our company just issued a company-wide report. The report was a record of internet usage of all computer users of the company in Thailand (about 400 members of our 2,000 employees). The report listed the websites browsed and the amount of time spent on each website. I rarely have any time to use the internet because my boss sits about 5 feet behind me with a clear view of my monitor. Occasionally when he isn't at his desk, and I have enough time to pull myself away from the heavy workload, I take a look at Jamie's website. So, the website came up in the report. By the way, each website is categorized. For example, "Sports", "Entertainment", "Business News", etc. Fortunately, for some reason, Jamie's website came up as "Business and Economics" which is ok for us to view. So, I won't get in trouble for this one. Read-up while you can and get as many investing tips from Jamie and his website.

The name and face say it all. But if you don't recognize her, you can look her up on the net.

What happened?
September 6, 08
Yesterday, Jamie pointed at a bird and said, "Uh-oh!" I asked him, "What happened?" Jamie answered, "Bird happened!" I think we've gotta' work on that phrase a little more.
Then, this morning, the first thing he said after he woke up and walked into the living room was, "Obama yuu nai?" This is a Thai phrase which, translated into English means, "Where is Obama?" He's either been watching too much CNN, or listening in on our discussions about politics at home.

Germ Theory
July 20, 2007
This just in! Bacteria and germs can make people (especially babies who haven't yet developed their immune system) sick. I don't think I'm being too Western about this. Please let me know if I am. The cleaning staff at our apartment always walk up to Jamie and touch his hand (one in which he has in his mouth about half the day). I don't mind if people touch my kid, but if your job is to clean bathrooms, dust, mop floors, then I would hope that you would have enough common sense to avoid touching little babies. Don't get me wrong. They are very kind people. I only wish that they would refrain from touching his saliva drenched hands while they're on their shift.

My son Jimmie
December 17, 2006
I took Jamie shopping on Khao San Road with a Thai friend of mine. As I was shopping for shirts, I picked up a shirt (that I eventually bought) with Jimmie Hendrix on the front. Somebody walking by said, "Jimmie!" My Thai friend asked me if I knew him. I replied that I didn't. So she asked me how he knew my son's name.

The next day, I met another Thai friend and her boyfriend at Lumphini Park. She took some good pictures of Jamie and sent them to me. The email was entitled, "Pictures of Jimmie".

Diapers
October 14, 2006
Because of the inability to afford disposable diapers and the inconvenience of having to wash cloth diapers, some Thai parents allow their children to run around butt-naked and do their business as bears do. Of course, Joey and I would never do such a thing. So, Joey and I considered the pros and cons of each and decided on disposable diapers. Isn’t it funny though that more than half the urine and about 1/4 of the feces that exit little Jamie’s body still end up outside of the diaper and onto his clothes and onto our furniture. We could be saving a lot of money by just letting him do his stuff without a diaper. I hope he learns how to use the toilet soon. Just today he pissed all over this cute outfit.

Boogers
September 17, 2006
With such ease, our pediatrician was able to remove boogers from Jamie’s nose. Surely, I thought I could do the same. So, the next day, when I spotted a booger in Jamie’s nose I gave it a shot. However, instead of removing the booger, I only pushed it further into his nose. It will probably come out on its own.
