First Trimester
What a SURPRISE!!

My Mom and Dad were in Las Vegas for a weekend vacation.  My Mom wasn't her usual "wild-in-Las-Vegas" self and my Dad was quite curious about that.  They were staying at the Aladdin Hotel & Casino and were given an upgraded room with a jacuzzi overlooking the Bellagio fountain.  All my Mom wanted to do was spend time in the room.  On the morning of May 26, 2002, my Mom woke up and said to my Dad, "I think we need to go get a pregnancy test."  My Dad's bottom lip dropped to the floor as he gasped for air.  My Mom wasn't feeling up to par during the week leading up to that but she never suspected that it could be ME causing all that uneasiness ... until that morning.  Her suspicions were confirmed shortly after.  What happened in Vegas definitely didn't stay in Vegas this time.  They called their parents before they even got out of town!

First Glance At Our Little Cub

My Mom went to see her OB-Gyn, Dr. Greggs, on June 5th.  The doctor was a little concerned about something so she ordered a sonogram and my Mom and Dad got to hear my heartbeat.  Unfortunately, my Momma had a very large cyst growing right beside me.  The doctor said we'd have to watch it closely and do another sonogram in a few weeks.  She ended up having a sonogram every single month after that.  The insurance company didn't care for that much but my Mom and Dad thought it was really neat to be able to watch me grow inside my Mom's belly every step of the way.  Thankfully everything worked out just fine.  Click here for all the ultrasound pictures:  Tiger in the Womb

Second Trimester
Ahhh ... Much Better!

The second trimester went by very quickly.  Morning sickness was finally subsiding although my Mom still had difficulty brushing her teeth.  For some reason that would make her a bit queazy.  Who came up with that "morning sickness" term anyway?  "24/7 sickness" is more like it.  One thing we know for sure though -- SLEEP IS GOOD!  The best part was when I learned how to kick.  My Mom and Dad were really excited about that.

Are You Sure It's A Boy???

I finally decided to show off my male-hood on September 24th.  Both my Dad and Grandma Dixie secretly hoped I'd be a girl, but my Momma had it all figured out way back -- even before I was still stuck in the Fallopian tube.  From the time she was a little girl, she always new she'd have a son.  And she was right ... a little Y-Chromosome was the lucky winner this time!  The proof is in the picture (above).  Take a look -- the sonogram technician even outlined it for you just in case you don't know what one looks like at 25 weeks.

It sure didn't take long for my Dad to realize that BOYS ROCK!!  And as my Dad likes to say, "I'd rather only have to worry about one little boy than hundreds of little boys."  Well, he doesn't exactly phrase it like that but you get the picture.

Third Trimester
Counting Down ...

Well my Momma is as big as a house and can't even tie her own shoes, but I guess that just means she's doing something right.  I'm excited that I'll be able to meet my family soon.

My Mom and Dad interviewed pediatricians in November and found the perfect doctor for me.  Her name is Molly Droge.

Baby Showers

Our friends Russell and Anne Coe gave us a baby shower in early November.  All my Daddy's co-workers were invited to the Coe's house and we had a great time.  Russell barbecued and we had lots of food ... and got lots of loot!

We were given a second shower by my Mom's friend Sarah in mid-November at my Mom's office.  All her Carreker friends came.  And guess what??  We got more loot!  I even got a rocking tiger and a faux leather jacket.

And believe it or not but we had a third shower as well.  This time my Mom and Dad didn't attend though.  My Grandma Jeannie and Aunt Mindy held it for us in Utah.  They played all sorts of crazy shower games and even videotaped it for us so we could pretend we were there.  It was exciting when the mailman delivered the big box -- EVEN MORE LOOT!

I don't think my parents will have to buy a thing for me ... NOT!

Ninth Inning

Almost there!  I certainly wasn't making my Mom very comfortable -- especially during the last few months.  I loved sitting up so my head was right under her rib cage.  Would you like to be stuck in one position for nine months straight?  But I didn't move from that position until they pulled me out of her tummy.  The final sonogram was on December 16th and we scheduled the Cesarean Section for December 30th.  Enter Tiger Jake (aka "Little Tax Write-Off").  Yippeeee!
