Gabriel Ortiz

Biography

Born July 21st, 1981, to parents Gricel and Rafael Ortiz, Gabriel spent much of his childhood in a small upstate town in New York. In 1992, his family moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, where most of the Ortiz clan reside today. Gabriel attended College at Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vermont and has a BS in History. Shortly after graduating, Gabriel met Niury and 12 months later they married. Gabriel and Niury now own a franchise location of Douglas Aquatics in Charlotte, NC. They build, service, maintain and manage Swimming Pools throughout North Carolina.

Gabriel has high expectations of himself as an expectant father and can't wait to begin the challenge and experience of raising four beautiful children -- two boys and two girls!

Niury Ortiz

Biography

Born November 26th, 1981, to parents Jenny and Armando Guillen, Niury spent much of her childhood in the small town of Miami, Florida. In 2004, her family moved to Charlotte, NC. Niury attended College at NOVA Southeast University in Miami, Florida. Shortly after moving to North Carolina, Niury met her hearthrob husband-to-be, Gabriel! From that date forward, life would never be the same. They got engaged on a rainy and very mysterious Valentine's Day in 2005 and married in December 3rd, of the same year.

Fertility???

Yes...

Niury has PCOS - Polysystic Ovarian Syndrome. This basically prevents her body from being able to release eggs on its' own for fertilization. After attempting to get pregnant several times, Niury and Gabriel sought the help of REACH Fertility Clinic and Dr. Richard Wing in Charlotte, NC. After several attempts, Niury became pregnant in the fall of 2006. Unfortunately, in January of 2007, the pregnancy was lost to a miscarriage.

We attempted one last time with a little stronger dose of fertility assisting drugs and received a positive pregnancy test in June of 2007.

1st Sonogram

"Four at Four" Would become the mantra of the day. Gabe had spoken to his mother before going into the sonogram and jokingly stated, "yeah, we'll have four at four." Much to our surprise, and that of Dr. Wing, we discovered it was true - we were pregnant with four!! And so, the journey started...
