Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a wonderful New Year!
Our End of the year-beginning of the year has been wonderful. We've officially been able to hold all of the babies! It's not like being able to go and hold them anytime we want but it was wonderful (please see photo album for pics). All of them having been doing really well. As you may have seen in the Baby Updates that Alivia is doing better and they are all gaining weight- this is such a great thing! I've been excited to see things progress. In the coming weeks they will start to do "Room Air Trials" on the babies which basically means they will slowly starting weaning them off of the C-Paps until they don't need them anymore, as well as continuing to increase their feedings.
As for me- I'm doing pretty well. Emotionally I'm doing better now that I've been able to hold the babies and I get to change diapers and check temps. I'm not by any means 100% but I don't think that will happen until they are home. Then I'll have a whole new set of emotions! Physically I'm fine. I'm healing well and haven't had any problems (knock on wood). Spiritually- I've had a lot more faith these last few weeks. As the babies came and problems arose and things got better I believe faith and everyone's prayers has helped tremendously. Thank you to everyone who has kept us in their prayers. I'll write again soon.

December 26th - 5:15 PM
Merry Christmas!
What a wonderful Christmas it was! We got to hold our 2 little boys! This was such an emotional moment! I think that holding them makes the whole thing a little more real. It makes me feel more like a Mommy! I know that I cannot wait until we can hold our little girls. They are all doing well and moving forward. The drive to and from the hospital is still a challenge with the distance but we're slowly getting used to it. Everyone has been wonderful at the hospital- there nurses as well as my old nurses- and we have been very lucky with that. We still get sad when we pass the nursery and have no babies but we know that they will be home soon enough. We know they're in good hands. We'll keep you updated- we promise to update it more often now that we don't have the holiday's around.
Will write again soon!

December 20th - 10:50 AM
9 days Post Partum
Well, today so far is a good day! We did decide to get a tree and put it up last night. We haven't decorated it yet- it just has lights- but we will tonight. Yesterday at the ICN was a good day- 3 out of 4 of the munchkins have Santa hats on- pics coming later today- and they all look great! I haven't seen them yet today but all was well when we called. I think that I am slowly but surely coming along with my emotional breakdowns. I know that the person this is the hardest on is Gabe. He's been SOOO supportive and understanding- he's been wonderful. I've been trying to slowly take everything in and he's been in the seat right next to me. I know that he's been stressed as well but he's been so much stronger then me at showing it. I'll write again tomorrow with more updates. Baby Updates will come this afternoon. :)

December 19th -- 11:00 AM
8 Days Post Partum
Well, Well, Well. I have my Up Days and my Down Days and then My Up/Down Days. I think sometimes I'm going crazy but I know it's just the emotions and realization of now being a parent. Now we're responsible for the lives of 4 precious little miracles and it's very scary. The fact that I can't spend every waking moment with them drives me crazy. When we visit them we like to spend time just in the Pod even if we aren't visiting with one of them specifically. We just like being around them. Everyday I see them they look more beautiful to me and it's just amazing that we made such precious things. I probably sound crazy but I just feel so overwhelmed with happiness and sadness all at the same time that I don't know how to express myself. I've cried so many times of confusion that I feel like I'm having a nervous breakdown! I'm not having a Nervous Breakdown, I'm having a Post Partum Breakdown. Christmas this year doesn't even feel like Christmas. We haven't gotten a tree (and at this point don't plan on it), we haven't gotten gifts- it's not the same this year. We'll be spending Christmas Morning at the hospital so we can be with our Christmas Gifts. I know that we just have to hang in there and that next Christmas will be the best!

December 17th -- 11:53 PM
6 Days Post Partum
Well, let me start by saying WOW! It has been a stressful few days! Between trying to rest and recover, enjoy being home and driving (my husband drives by the way) to and from the hospital it's been crazy. We've been on a Roller Coaster of emotions, from excited to see Adyn open his eyes to sad that we can't hold the babies. Then there is fear because of the situation with Alivia. I know that I have been an emotional wreck these few days, between not being pregnant anymoreand being able to feel them in my belly to not being able to snuggle, hold or feed any of them. I've been somewhat distant and feel like I'm just going through the motions. Trying to keep myself occupied (at least mentally) so that I don't feel so sad. I know it's going to take some time to get adjusted but can you ever adjust?  Check back tomorrow- I have more to write.

December 12th -- 3:45 PM
PSM- Recovering
Well, as you all know-- we had the babies yesterday! This is how it all started. As you know, on the 9th I explained I was having A LOT more contractions then usual. Well, yesterday they got eve worse. At about 10:30 am it was officially decided that we would deliver! How exciting and scary! So we sat and waited to be taken back to the OR. I of course was still contracting this whole time and was excited yet, in denial I think that we were about to deliver these angels. It was not until I heard Adyn's cry that it really hit me that we were having four babies. I got very emotonal at that point although I tried my hardest to stay collected because they still had 3 babies to get out and stabilize. I finally got to see the babies around 5:45 pm and they had been born at 2:15 pm! They all looked so beautiful. They're small and fragile but beautiful. We went and saw them today and spent a few hours with them. They are all stabile and doing well as of now but we know it's going to be an emotional roller coaster. I think we;re prepared for this but we won't actually know until something happens. Thank you to all the wonderful Nurses, Neonatologists and of course, Dr. Fletcher and Dr. Bohmer for having a wonderful and problem free surgery. I will keep everyone updated on how I am doing as well as the babies.

December 9th -- 1:45 PM
Day 21 - This Time...
Well, although I haven't written in a few days--- babies are still not here! The last couple of days I've had a lot more contractions than usual but today tops them all. I've had more then 6 an hour since 10 am. I've gotten 2 extra boluses of meds and they haven't changed! I've also  been having a lot of lower abdominal pain but they can't do anything about it. So, I'm still here and now ontop of being stuck in the hospital I'm uncomfortable too! Well, I don't mean to complain but just keep me and the babies in your prayers. I have a feeling they'll be here this week! :) I'll Keep you updated!

December 5th -- 5:20 PM
PSM - Day 17 - Round Three
Well, all is pretty good. The babies are doing well-- kicking my butt with movement and contractions. Yesterday was interesting because it was time for me to have my T-Pump site changed but we had a problem with the pump so I didn't get it back for a few hours-- boy did I feel those contractions. At least we know the pump works! I didn't have for just a llittle while and it took all day and an extra dose of meds to get them to calm down. Today is not to too bad. I've had a fair amount of contractions but they should stay put. We're thinking they're going to come in the next week or 2. But we'll see :) Tomorrow we get another ultrasound so we'll let you know how the babies are doing! I'll write tomorrow.

December 3rd -- 3:30 PM
PSM- Our Anniversary! - Day 15
Well-- today is our Anniversary! It's been 2 wonderful years. We also had another Ultrasound today and we have no change with Baby B (Juliana). This is a good sign because that means we haven't gotten worse, we've just stayed the same. As for me, I'm not doing to bad. Trying to hang in there for just a little longer. I am still having contractions but they've been able to keep them under control.  I'd also like to say Thank You to all my nurses and staff- you've been wonderful. Being here everyday, all day does get to me- and all I can do is try and stay strong and think of the end result. Visitors again are always welcome- you can call or email- Keep checking back- I'll be updating!

November 30th -- 12:40 PM
PSM- 26 weeks!
First I'd like to apologize to everyone who keeps up with my journal for not writing in so long! I'll start with last week. I just realized I never said anything about Turkey Day. It was great! I got to spend a couple of hours with the family which was very nice. The weekend wasn't bad. We had our Baby Shower on Saturday- mainly family- and we all got to hang out for a little while. But there is still so much more needed! It's crazy to see how much babies need. So, we are still registered.. lol... Monday was my birthday and it was good. Then starting Wednesday Night I started having a lot of contractions! No good! They've been giving me extra meds and last night they hooked me up to an IV again to give me extra fluids. So, it seems we are going backwards! Hopefully the fluids and the extra meds help and we keep these babies in for at least 2 more weeks. I will write again soon!

November 23rd -- 1:30 PM
Presbyterian Special Maternity
Well, I'm back! I'm actually ok to type and catch everyone up on what happened. If everyone read Dad's Jpurnal then you all knew that these babies were trying to be turkey's! Well, it did not happen and today we are 25 weeks! But let me tell you, the drugs they had me on made me feel horrible! It took a few days for the meds to clear out of my system and now I'm on a "T-Pump". It's a small pump (kind of like an insulin pump) that goes into my thigh and gives me small regular doses of the meds to keep contractions under control. So far so good.. (knock on wood). We're having our baby shower here at the hospital on Saturday. It should be fun. Honorable mention before I go for the day is to my sister who stayed cool, calm and collected as she drove very fast to get me here on monday! Thanks! I'll write again to update tomorrow.

November 18th -- 6:30 PM
At Home- :)
Well, as you can see by the heading I am at home!!! I was discharged last night at about 6:30 PM. I couldn't take being in that hospital room anymore. I think, that even if I'm only home for a few days or just this week-- I'll get back a little sanity and know once I go back, I can't come home until after the babies are born. We did reach our first milestone- 24 weeks as of Friday the 16th!!! Now we have another 4 weeks to get to milestone #2. I'm not doing anything, I'm staying on the sofa and not getting up even for a drink!! I do not want to stir up anything earlier then it should be because I wanted a drink or a sandwich. Anyone who has time or just wants to visit during the day is more than welcome!!! I'll keep in touch....

November 15th -- 2:30 PM
PSM- Day 9
Well, last night was wonderful!!! Gabe got here about 7:30 PM and we decided to go for my daily stroll. We went out for a walk and then suddenly he was crossing the street- I was like " where are you going? you should turn around". He told me to stop worrying and we ended up getting Ice Cream from a little Homemade Ice Cream Shop- then, we saw a restaurant that had crab cakes (I had been mentioning crab cakes) and he rolled me in the restaurant and we ate Crab Cakes and Calamari and it was so wonderful!!! But the fun didn't last. When I got hooked to the Toco Machine later that night I several contractions!! I was on the machine for an extra hour and then given a shot of something to stop the contractions (Can't remember how it's spelled) I was asleep by like 10:30. But, this morning so far so good! At least I had fun last night and ate really yummy wonderful food! I'll write again tomorrow.

November 14th -- 5:45 PM
PSM- Day 8
Well, today we had another ultrasound and the babies look GREAT!!! All about 1 and 1/2 pounds. All the heart rates were great and they are growing well. As for me... I'm still having contractions. They are pretty quiet during the night and only hit me at night. I was put to sleep early last night, since I was having contractions, they decided to put me to sleep early to allow the contractions to calm down and let me sleep. I slept as well as anyone could being in a hospital with nurses and techs constantly coming in and out of your room. I mean, don't get me wrong, the staff is wonderful but not being able to sleep more than 4-6 hours at a time! Well, I'll update everyone tomorrow on any new news! :)

November 13th -- 10:45 AM
PSM- day 7
Well, this morning it was officially decided- I am in the hospital for good! :( It was a sad sad realization. It will be hard but I will work through it with the support of my friends and family. I know that the hardest part will be not being able to be a normal husband and wife. Not being able to watch on the couch, having dinner together at the table, going out, etc. Sleeping here at the hospital every night, driving to and from Concord all the time would be hard for anyone. I understand it's hard and I appreciate all that he does so much. I will definitley be posting daily and updating everyone on the status of the pregnancy. So far so good (knock on wood-:) lol) we're almost at 24 weeks!!

November 12th -- 5:25 PM
Presbyterian Special Maternity- Day 6
Well, the test results are in and it was negative!!! That means I get to go home, I just don't know when (hopefully Tuesday or Wednesday). It's now just a waiting game to get a home monitor. All the babies are great and so active! They have been kicking and moving like crazy for the last 2 days. I went on a wheelchair ride late last night and it was wonderful to get out of the room!!! Who knew the highlight of my days would be showers and wheelchair rides. LOL... Well, I'll write again tomorrow and keep you all updated!

November 11th -- 11:45 AM
Presbyterian Special Maternity- Day 5
Well, yesterday was a good day. Gabe spent the entire day here! My mom and grandmother visited as well as my mom in law. Lots of visitors! I got wheelchair privileges yesterday! Half an hour a day is allowed! Half hour to spend outside the room is wonderful. We toured the ICN (intensive care nursery) yesterday as well. It was good because it gave us a chance to see the little babies and the tubes they'll be hooked up to, etc. and ask lots of questions. All the nurses are great in there as well. After the test they intend to do tomorrow if it comes bank negative then I can go home tomorrow! How exciting!! Check back soon for more updates!:)

November 9th -- 7:45 PM
Presbyterian Special Maternity - Day 3
Well, I will officially be here for the weekend. Monday Morning they'll run another test and then that will determone if I can get a home monitoring machine and be on bed rest at home. Being in the hospital all day in a bed is very hard. Everyone works all day and being able to "chit chat" is hard! The staff here at the hospital is great, it's just the isolation during the day that gets hard. I'm sure a lot of us here on this floor feel the same way. But ultimately, the longer I stay in bed and inside- the longer the babies can stay in me! I'll write again soon.

November 8th, 2007 -- 2:00 PM
Presbyterian Special Maternity - Day 2
Well, as you can tell, I'm still here!! No discharge for me today. I'm still contrating a little but and they haven't decided if they want to send me home, get me a home monitoring machine or keep me here in the hospital. Today has been okay, kind of bored- but hanging in there. Will keep everyone posted. All the babies are doing fine, kicking and moving. :)

November 7th, 2007 -- 10:45 AM
Presbyterian Special Maternity- Day 1
Well, I'm in the hospital again! I actually have the same room I had last week! Room 875- :) I'm hooked up to the Toco Machine (Machine that monitors contractions) and so far so good this morning. Last night I was given meds 2 times to stop contractions cause they were coming frequent and strong. All of the staff is great here, I know most of the nurses and techs already from my 5 day stay last week. All the babies were scanned and they look great! Growing and moving like crazy. They don't like the toco machine, they move a lot and kick the monitor! LOL... check back later today!

January 4th - 10:50 AM
Hanging In
Well, I'm doing well. I did have my first post-op appt wednesday and all is well!
Physically I'm doing great- I'm actually skinnier and lighter then I was before I got pregnant. :) Just walking a lot so I can get in shape so I'm prepared for these babies when they come home.
Spiritually I'm doing well- I've had a lot more faith these last few weeks with how the babies are doing. I do think God is watching over them.
And last but not least- Emotionally I'm hanging in- I still have my sad bouts and feel empty but it's getting better. I do get excited when they open their eyes, when I get to hold them and even when I get to change their diapers! LOL...

I'll write again soon- :)
