It's a new day.
Wow. Pregnancy. Baby. New life. Kinda intimidating, yet extremely exciting at the same time. At this point, the worst part is that we're not really telling anybody about it, so I've this exciting news that I can't share with anybody! It's like now I've moved to another world. Full of new cares and concerns. There's a new vocabulary. Just lots of new stuff. Even the title of this page - "Dad's Journal". Dad? Meaning Me? Right now I'm just trying to come to grips with the concept. Definitely will require a shift in thinking.

Well I remember. I remember, don't worry.
Phil Collins, "In the Air Tonight" That's the song that was playing yesterday the first time I saw Pearl. We were getting our first ultrasound, and the doctors office's phone system I guess piped the radio through all the phones. So, as the tech showed us the baby on the screen, I heard in the background: "Well I remember. I remember, don't worry..." Really exciting stuff. The technology involved is crazy! Not only can you see the baby, so well that you can every see the little heart beating, but you can also HEAR the heart beat. I with they would have given me an mp3 of that or something. Ringtone! (Just Kidding) Later, people.

Take it like a Man!
On the contrary, Felicia is definitely taking it like a woman! By that I mean that she's taking everything all in stride. It's a bit difficult to "put myself in her shoes" with the stuff Felicia's going through right now. I will never really be able to relate. All I can really do is listen, and try to help where I can. I'm really in awe of how she's handling everything! I'm hungry. I'm nauseous. I'm sleepy. I gotta pee. I'm hungry, but I want to sleep. I'm sleepy, but I want to eat something. Well, I need to eat something, because I need to take my vitamin. I can't have any alcohol. I need to be sure I eat healthy. None of my clothes fit anymore. It's A LOT to deal with. But she's handling it. I'm proud. Very proud.
