Welcome to our fostering & adoption journal for baby Alessandro Paul DiBartolo.  Please feel free to visit, view pictures and videos.  We would love to hear from you, so please e-mail or visit the guestbook.  We miss all our friends and family while we are living here in Guatemala, so we would love to hear from you.  We are so lucky that we are able to take this time from our careers to bond with our first child.

Please take the time to sign our guestbook (last selection on the list).  We will send updates to those who have registered in the guestbook.  We plan on making a CD of this website to show to Alessandro when he gets older.

Thank you for taking your time in viewing our site and thank you for signing the guestbook.

Sincerely
,
Brian, Cheryl, and Alessandro DiBartolo (¨The ABCDi¨ gang).

Alessandro Paul DiBartolo - born May 25, 2006
Baby Alessandro was born in Mazatenago, Guatemala on 25 May, 2006.  He weighed 6 pounds and 15 ounces and was 17.7 inches in length.

Why Guatemala?

We chose to adopt from Guatemala for several reasons.  We have many friends from all over Latin America, friends and family in Peru, and feel a deep connection to the people of Central and South America.  North Carolina has a rapidly growing Hispanic/Latino population, and we are both involved in many activities that serve them.  We both felt drawn to Latin America, and after researching adoptions throughout this area of the world, we discovered that Guatemala has some of the healthiest, youngest, and best cared-for infants for adoption in all of Latin America.

After talking it over for several weeks, we made our decision after a Schiele Museum dinner event.  Brian, being his usual outgoing self, found us some seats across from a couple we didn’t know and we began talking.  After socializing with them for no more than ten minutes they began to tell us of their adoption of a little girl from Guatemala.  It was no accident that we sat across from them.  We looked at each other and knew this was the country.  We had no doubt in our minds that Guatemala was where we would find our child.

You can save this map and see many of the places we talk about in the Travel Journal.  The map is better when you enlarge it.
