My First Memories of Junior...

It’s been 6 months since my little Corey came into the world and what a joy he’s been!  I never kept a pregnancy journal because I thought about it too late in the pregnancy.  I wish I had but I figured I have this great webpage for him so I may as well add more great moments to share.

I find myself staring at him from time to time and I still can’t believe he’s HERE.  I remember that when the crib was finally put together, I couldn’t wait to put him in it.  I would stand over the empty crib and would think about how I just couldn’t wait to fill it up!! And boy is it filled up... his little chunky butt is huge!! These are a few memories of my little one before he was the adorable and playful little guy that he is now.

The Blueberry

I use to read up on all type of baby information… mostly how he was developing inside week by week.  I just wanted to stay informed and make sure everything was okay.  Of course I had the doctor to keep me informned but all the reading was just extra to make me feel at ease.  Also,  I was soooo curious to know what he looked like every week and what little organs and body parts my little one had developed.

I found this great website that provided so much information.  They also do a comparison to fruits and veggies letting you know how big he was as each week went by.  It was the cutest and funniest thing.  His father and I started to refer to him as “the blueberry” because at some point early in the pregnancy he was the size of a blueberry.

That’s pretty much the story behind the “blueberry” picture posted.  Yes…  silly me, put a blueberry on my table and took a picture of it.  The berry represented Junior.   I can't help to wonder if he’s going to like blueberries when he gets older... hmm...

Sneak Peek...

I went for my first prenatal visit and I remember being nervous and having all kind of silly thoughts.  It was such a hassle getting insurance because I didn't have any at the time, so the first visit was a little delayed.  I was so anxious to know and find out if everything was on point.  When I finally saw the doctor, she wasn't sure if I was really the amount of weeks I was claiming to be (the previous doctor had told me) because she thought my belly was a little on the bigger side.  The only way she could determine how far along I was, was by doing a quick ultrasound to see how big the baby actually was.

So I got a sneak peek of my little one (my first official ultrasound was supposed to take place weeks later).  I thought to myself, how exciting!!  I get to see my blueberry in action!! And boy, was he in action! Lol! This little thing inside me would not stop flipping around!! I was confused though... wasn't sure what I was looking at. Lol And you all know I had to ask if they could tell whether it was a boy or girl.  The doctor told me she couldn't tell because she wasn't a sonographer and only they know what to look for... which was a lie... oh she knew.  She kept slipping up and calling it a "he". ;o)

1st "Official" Ultrasound

I had my first "official" ultrasound on November 9th, 2007.  I was SO anxious because that was the day we would find out if he was really a "he", but more importantly if he was growing and developing the way he was supposed to.  It was a lengthy procedure but it was worth going through every minute of it.  How AMAZING!! I got to stare at my baby on a monitor for a good 45 minutes... just rolling and bouncing around.  What a feeling... :o)

You can only imagine how proud his dad was to hear the news... "it's a boy!".  The ultrasound shot above was his favorite.  It was such a big deal the tech zoomed in and placed an "arrow" on it and then printed it up for him.  The arrow should kind of guide you and help you figure out what exactly it is you're looking at. lol

Cayman Islands Trip

I was a little apprehensive about traveling at first but I can't lie, I did want to get away.  I knew once that little boy came around vacation days would be over... temporarily of course *wink*.  I waited until my second trimester because doctors believe the first trimester is a riskier time.  So I went with my little bump (5 months) and had a nice time, although I couldn't do all the fun activities I would have any other time.  But that was okay, the blueberry's well being was wayyyy more important than any of that.  As you can see, I had fun and he was included in everything!

Couldn't Tell Me Nothing!

The picture above is of me showing off my bump.  Just think... little Corey was in there... I'm still amazed!!  I had the worst headache ever in this picture... don't even know how I was smiling... excruciating I tell you! But when I look at these pictures I think about how I would do it all over again... headache and all.

Blue Is For Boy!!

I put up a Christmas tree in his father’s apartment last year and can you guess what color the decorations were? Blue!! Lol! I was obsessed with blue because blue was for my boy! It was a little bare but I tried to find as many blue decorations as I could.  Everything was for Junior and he wasn’t even around yet.  I know he won’t really know what Christmas is for a couple of years but you can only imagine how happy and thrilled I am that he’s going to be around these Holidays.  I think I just might put up another blue tree.  ;o)

Prego At The Christmas Party!

This was taken at my job's Christmas Party about a month after the trip.  As you can see the bump was an actual belly at that point.  I can't believe I danced that night... in my stiletto boots! Just don't tell my mom... she'd kill me! Ha!

My Baby Shower
On March 8th of this year, I had my baby shower.  It was a bitter sweet day for me.  My dad wasn't feeling well and was taken to the emergency room earlier that day.  He was kept at the hospital because they wanted to monitor him.  Of course we were all upset but it was the smart thing to do.  I didn't want to go through with my shower... I wanted to cancel it to be honest but everyone thought it was a bad idea.  The shower would help keep my mind off anything upsetting.

So I went and had a nice time.  We all had great food and the cake was awesome! (wish I had some right now ;o)) I opened up all my gifts that I was SO grateful for.  Junior got so many things that he needed and was able to use.

Later on that evening I found out that my dad had had a stroke while in the hospital.  Here I was having a good time and my dad was in the hospital going through something so serious.  I had no idea... my older brother had left the shower, but I thought he just wanted to keep him company.  It was a big scare but my dad eventually recovered... he only had about 2 months of therapy.  Thankfully it wasn't that serious.  God wanted my daddy to be there for my Junior's welcoming.  And he was... Junior came along 3 weeks later and my father came to see us.  :o)

The picture above is me of course, sitting proudly at my shower with my nephew Manny... I was ready to pop!

It's Baby Time!!
Woah!! What a hot mess (with the bed pan layin' next to my head... real nice)!! Lol... I know I know, I was having a baby... but I wish I had packed some make-up... my goodness!!

My due date was March 28th, 2008.  I had gone to my last prenatal visit that week and spoke with my doctor.  My dute date was that weekend and I was feeling a bit on the BIG and heavy side.  I was getting NO sleep at all because I had this load in front of me and it was ridiculously hard to get comfortable.  The doctor asked me if I wanted to stick it out and wait another week, or I could have the option to be induced.

So I scheduled an appointment to be induced.  I was given a choice of Monday, March 31st... or Wednesday, April 2nd.  The sooner the better, so I picked the 31st.  The plan was that I would pretty much wait for the due date and if nothing happened all weekend then I was already scheduled to go into the hospital at 6 a.m. on Monday.

Sure enough, Sunday came around... and later on that night, at approximately 11:00 p.m., I started to get contractions.  I had already been getting them weeks before, which is normal, so I thought nothing of it at first.  Well, about an hour or 2 later (which was mighty fast) I started to get them really close... and this did not feel good AT ALL.  They were about 3 minutes apart... enough for me to call the doctor.  I called at about 1:30 a.m. and he told me to go to the hospital.

When I finally got settled in the labor & delivery room, I was checked and told that I had dialated like 2cm. (supposed to be a total of 10 cm.)  At that point I didn't care to fully dialate... I needed to dialate 4 cm. exactly to get some epidural (anasthesia for the back pain) and I COULD NOT WAIT!!!  I know I must've got on the nurse's nerves because I kept telling her to check if I had dialated anymore every half hour or so... lol.

I finally got my injection at about 10 a.m.  I would NEVER say this any other time... but thank goodness for this drug!!!  After that, it was smooth sailing.  The doctor had already broke my water that morning, which meant that my Junior's amniotic fluid (the stuff he breathed and survived in) was leaking out and was almost completely gone.  We waited all day and I wasn't dialating past 7 cm. so they had to fill me back up with fluid so we could wait a little longer.

By 6:00 p.m. the doctor told me my baby was getting exhausted and needed to come out.  I never made it to the full 10 cm., so he had to perform a C-section.  As much as I didn't want a cesarean delivery I didn't care at that point.  I just wanted my baby out and safe.

He finally came out, at 7:11 p.m. to be exact.  I will NEVER forget the feeling that came over me.  It was SO surreal.  The doctor held him up and all I could say and think was "That's him? He's mine??" He didn't look like he could come out of me I thought. LOL He was purpleish and real massy... all I could do was laugh.  My Junior was finally here!!!! And just look at him now!!!! :o)
