Brooke's Princess Room
Theme

Since we knew we were having a girl, we wanted something sweet and "girly".  Well, I wanted sweet and girly, Kevin's primary request was - no pink walls.  We decided a princess theme was about as girly as we could get.

Kevin's Great Idea

Kevin had the idea of hiring Dan, a local painter, to paint a mural in Brooke's room.  I wanted something subtle and looked through a million books and websites and found the idea in a Disney book.

Dan did a wonderful job and I think the room is so sweet!

Hannah's Bedding
I loved the idea of Brooke having something that belonged to one of her cousins and Hannah had the most beautiful bedding.  It looks precious in the room.

It was very special when Hannah and Steffani came to visit and saw it in the room.

Kevin's Perfect Find

Kevin found the perfect piece for Brooke's room.  I so badly wanted a chandelier but couldn't find one that I thought would look right in the room.  Kevin came home from work one day and told me he found the perfect chandelier and had ordered it.  As you can imagine, I was a little nervous since men aren't typically known for their taste in pink chandeliers.  I was so pleasantly surprised when it arrived.  I LOVED it.  It was the perfect addition to the room (until Brooke arrived, of course)!

Paint Fiasco

I had picked a paint color that looked great on the 2x2 color swatch but once I saw it on the wall, I thought it was awful!  I didn't want to spend the money to bring the painters back so Kristy offered to paint over it.  Kristy and Alicia stayed up until about 2 in the morning re-painting the entire room.

Brooke's Playroom
Her Haven From Roscoe

We realized the need for a playroom after we got our puppy, Roscoe.  We got tired of watching the two of them fight over toys and we felt bad that all of her toys had teeth marks on them.

What started off as a simple project became a month long ordeal.  I had originally thought about painting it a neutral color and have some gender-neutral pictures on the wall, in case we have another child that happened to be a boy.  I started shopping and saw so many cute girl things and changed the entire room from gender-neutral to flowers and butterflies.
