Brooke's First Bath
January 25, 2008
This was not a great experience.  Brooke looked so small and cold in that tub.  Kevin and I tried to bathe her as quickly as we could.

It is funny to think that two months later she would love taking baths.

This photo is not her first bath.  We were so stressed and hurried that I don't think we took any pictures.

The Zoo
February 10, 2008
I took Brooke to the Dallas Zoo today.  We went with mom, dad, Kristy, the kids, Steff and Hannah and Porter.  It was chilly outside but Brooke was bundled and slept most of the time.

First Smile
April 3, 2008
I was holding Brooke and smiling at her.  She smiled back and yes, my heart melted!  We think she smiled earlier but this was the first time she seemed to smile in response to something.

Brooke's First Laugh
May 30, 2008
Brooke laughed at MiMi when she pretended to bite her hands.

The First Time She Rolled Over
May 12, 2008
Brooke was on her activity mat and rolled from her back to her front.  Once she is on her tummy, she gets mad becasue she doesn't know how to get back over.  Brooke doesn't enjoy "Tummy Time."

Yummy Baby Food
June 2008
Brooke's had baby food for the first time on June 15.  I gave Brooke cereal and she seemed to like it.  Two days later I gave her peas and prunes.  She did not like the peas!  She was trying to get the baby food out of her mouth but could figure out how.   Another not-so-favorite is applesauce.  That attempt resulted in a gagging sound.  We'll try those again later.  She does like sweet potatoes, squash, green beans and bananas.   She seems to like all things orange.

She has started doing the cutest and messiest thing.  She will suck her thumb while we are feeding her and then rub her hair.  She almost always needs a bath after dinner.

Brooke Can Sit Up On Her Own
July 29, 2008

Brooke was sitting on the floor and I was holding her.  I let go and she stayed.  She looked quite pleased with herself!

Brooke Is Crawling
August 19, 2008
Brooke does something that looks like the worm as she moves across the floor.  At least that's my interpretation - my mom thinks it looked like a frog.  She is hilarious.  She also does a perfect Downward Dog and just hangs out in that position.  She is our little Zen Master.

Brooke Is Waving Bye-Bye (and Hello)
November 1, 2008
Brooke waved bye-bye to Mimi for the first time.  Now she waves at everyone, whether coming or going.  She hasn't realized that the word hi is associated with waving but will always wave when someone says bye.

The First Time She Clapped Her Hands
November 10, 2008
Brooke was sitting in her high chair.  Kevin and I were clapping and cheering for her and she joined in.   It was as if she was saying, yes, I am wonderful - let's all celebrate!!

Brooke's First Christmas
December 25, 2008

We had a fabulous Christmas with Brooke even though she didn't really get what was going on.  In fact, she was content to just eat the wrapping paper.  We had so much fun getting everything together.

We spent Christmas Eve with my family and the Pfeiffers and spent Christmas day with Kevin's family.  Brooke got so many toys.  Her playroom is filled with them.  She seems to like all of the toys that make noise.  She has a tambourine, a piano and bells that she plays with constantly.  Am I seeing a future music star?

She got the piano from Chris and Ange.  She would play it and then turn around to make sure we were all watching her.  Once she felt confident that she had our attention, she would continue playing....too cute.

This is a photo of Brooke during her piano recital on Christmas morning at Chris and Angela's house.

Planes, Trains and Automobiles
December 27, 2008

Well, it was actually planes, cruise ships and automobiles but that's not nearly as catchy.  We went on vacation with Glenn, Shelley, and the Turners!  We had so much fun.

We flew to
New Orleans on December 27 and took a cruise to Progresso and Cozumel, Mexico.  Brooke loved the ocean and the sand.  She also did pretty well on the plane.  She was a little fussy in the flight home because she was tired but did great on the way there.  In fact, a man behind us said to me, "Your baby is great.  I never heard a sound."

She is great!
