There’s Sophie! On the left side of the screen is her head and the right side is her body. Her legs are mostly “off screen” but you can see them kick sometimes and watch her pull them up to her, too.
That little thing moving toward the middle of the screen is her heart beating!
Now the doctor moves the wand and we can see her little legs and feet! If you keep watching very carefully, you’ll see her open and close her mouth when the wand goes back to give us a view of her head.
We told the doctor that we had never heard the heart beat, so she put it on for us. Then, we asked how many beats it is per minute, so she measured. I think it was exactly 140 beats per minute.
Next, you can see the top of her head…and then the doctor begins her quest for the gender. At this point, she guesses girl, but tells us she’ll go back for a better look in a minute.
There she is – sucking her thumb! After the doctor puts up the “face” label, watch her carefully and you’ll see her chin move up and down and her cheeks go in and out as she sucks her thumb.
After looking at her spine, the doctor makes another attempt to find the gender. She’ll show you the 3 little white lines with her mouse arrow later on, but for now, just see if you can pick them out. After looking at the little white lines from a few different angles, we go back to her face. In the freeze frame, you can clearly see her eyes, nose and mouth. If you keep watching her face and left hand, you’ll see her rubbing her cheek with the back of her hand and then feeling her chin.
As we watch her put her legs up over her head (we probably have gymnastics in our future), we get to watch her little foot push around.
We’ll roam around for the gender a few more times and, after finding that she’s still a girl, we get to see her twice in 3D. She looks a bit funny because babies don’t have fat at this stage, but it’s nice to see her face!
We look for the gender (one last time before the pink shopping spree begins!) and yep, she’s still a girl! After watching her rub her face one last time, the doctor turns off the machine and gives us pictures and a DVD. |
