Our First Appointment
December 18, 2003

Brian and I went to our appointment and got to see our "little jellybean" on the ultrasound.  We loved the way Dr. Hicks would joke with us, but still answer all our questions seriously.  This visit made this all very real to me, finally.

To the doctor...
November 24, 2005

My mom went with me to the doctor's office to take another test to verify that I am pregnant.  After I told them I already took 4 tests, they laughed and said, "You don't need ours then!"  I took it anyway and it was positive.  They made an appointment for my first visit with Dr. Hicks on Dec. 18.

I'm Pregnant?!?!?!
November 23, 2003
Brian is out of town and in the San Francisco area at a 3 week Cisco bootcamp to become Cisco certified.  He will be home tomorrow.  I'll be picking him up at the airport in the evening.  I went grocery shopping at WalMart tonight and since my period is late, I decided to buy a pregnancy test.  I came home, put the perishables in the fridge and ran to the bathroom to take the test.  I had taken one a week and a half ago, but it was negative.  This time I thought, "maybe now it will show up."  My heart skipped a beat as I saw the second line appear.  I tried calling Brian but was unable to reach him.  I called my parents and they were shocked but told me to calm down and wait until I knew for sure.  FORGET THAT!  I went back to WalMart and bought 3 more tests.  All 3 were positive.  I called my parents again, called my friend Stephanie, my mother-in-law Sharon, and then finally got a hold of Brian.  I started to cry because I didn't know if he would be happy too.  We had planned to have a family in a few years, not now.  He didn't sound too surprised.  He just chuckled a few times and said "We're gonna have a baby!"
