Baby Scott hit the 6 lb mark this week! Our Dr. appointments have been going well. Because I have Sjogrens Syndrome (http://www.sjogrens.org/- this can cause heart block in 3-4% of babies whose mothers have Sjogrens) the Dr. has scheduled a fetal echocardiogram and weekly Biophysical Profile tests which monitor the baby's heart rate, muscle tone, amniotic fluid, breathing, etc. We started the weekly tests last week and the Little Man scored 10 out of 10 last week and this week which was wonderful news! We had the fetal echo this week and the Dr. said the baby's heart looks great. We start our weekly OB visits this week so the count down is on!
Things have been pretty busy during March and April, so this will be a combined-month report! :) We spent most of March packing our belongings and getting ready for the move to Colorado. We had huge help from the parents which was a life saver!!
April 10th was our move date - which was insane, but everything got packed and we closed on the house - woo hoo!
We arrived in Colorado Springs on April 12th, and are now looking forward to getting into our new home at 784 Wycliffe Drive! :) We are tracking our home remodeling project and are storing some pictures on our Picasa Web Album - click this link to check it out if you're interested: http://picasaweb.google.com/ericcugrad/784WycliffeDr?authkey=uy_6lB-bNuc
We are starting a new set of baby classes next week, and planning to move into the new house on May 6th. Little Man's nursery is coming along, and his furniture (crib, etc.) are slated to be delivered in early to mid-May (we like to finish things down to the wire!). Eric has to travel to St Louis the week of May 12th, but that is the LAST travel week for him in a looong time...hopefully until July!
We have also decided to save/ store Baby Scott's cord blood (stem cells) so we have been busy researching the different companies and options out there. The advances in science are just amazing! We did select a company and if you are curious about the subject in general take a look! http://www.cordblood.com/.
Talk to y'all in May! :)
February (part 2): Dad has signed up for daddy boot camp and thanks to Erica's co-workers he already has all his materials!
We are excited to be in the home stretch! We are ready for the move back to Colorado (in 2 weeks!) so we can get settled into our new house and get ready for Baby Scott's arrival.
We finally decided on a theme for the nursery which was very exciting. I have to give Eric major props. He found the bedding/ room decor! Who knew Eric was a leopard guy? :-) Here is a picture for a sneak
peek. http://www.glennajean.com/pages/serengetti.htm
February:
Mommy turned 32 on the 23rd - woo hoo! The rents went to visit my Auntie Megan (she turned 30 on the 27th!) - plus Grandpa Greg, Mormor Annette, Afi Stu, & Nana Susie and the pooches Danny, Trojan, Peabody, and Bubba! (...sadly, I had to stay home in KC)
Mom and Dad had another appointment with Dr. Wittek in KC - they listened to "Baby Doppler" and heard a nice, healthy heartbeat. They have one more appointment with her before we move, and though we will all miss her and she has been wonderful for us throughout this process, we are psyched to come back to Colorado!
Mom and Dad visited their new doctor in Colorado Springs - Dr. Michelle Ridnour - she is great! They also saw a brochure for the fantastic birth center at Memorial Hospital, where baby boy Scott will be born! If you would like to see the brochure, this is the link: http://www.memorialhealthsystem.com/wps/wcm/resources/file/eb20b1487c562d2/MHCentralBirthCenter.pdf
Dad finally broke out the headphones and CD player for the Little Man this month! Our nightly ritual includes mamasita watching Law and Order while little brother listens to Baby Bach & Lullabies Of The World...a little funk might work it's way in next. :)
January:
BIG NEWS! We are having a BOY!!! We couldn't be happier! The baby was one busy little man during our last appointment. He was kicking up a storm, unbeknownst to his mom, and had no problem giving the Dr. the "money shot". He is also growing so fast! He is approximately 6in long and 9oz, about the size of a large heirloom tomato. His little ears are growing too and are almost ready for some classical, blues, and funk!!!
Photo = As dad likes to say, the stem is on the apple. :-)
December:
3rd Dr. visit on the 13th and both mom and baby are as healthy as can be. We were able to see the baby again and it's amazing how fast they grow! Baby Scott's legs were crossed and we could see the bottom of her/ his feet and all ten toes. So cool! I'm so happy my Dr.'s office has an ultrasound lab in office and my Dr. takes every opportunity to take a picture. This baby is going to have quite the picture album BEFORE they are even born!
November:
Second Dr. appt. Had the first ultrasound. WOW, more amazing than we had expected! Heard the baby's heartbeat and even saw the baby do a little dance! Already a sign of a born music fanatic? We think so.
October: First Dr. appt. The news has been officially confirmed (just in case the 6 previous tests had been wrong). :-)
