Week 26
I'm about 6 and half months. The top of my uterus is now 2 ½ inches above my belly button. The baby is about 2 lbs. and the development may seem small and insignificant, but it is very important as the baby begins to prepare for his entry into the world. The nerves in his ears are developing and allowing the baby to respond more consistently to the sounds that he hears. His weight will triple between now and birth as he rapidly puts on baby fat. He'll need that fat to help adjust to colder temperatures outside the womb and as a source of energy and calories in the first days of life. It's not uncommon for newborns, especially those who are breastfed, to lose weight (sometimes as much as 10 percent of their birth weight) in the first week after birth. He is an active little one. Kicks constantly during the night and day.
Week 28
The baby is rapidly growing at this point. This is due to the rapid brain development. Muscles and lungs are also continuing to develop and mature. This week he weighs about half a pound more than he did last week (about 2 1/2 pounds total) and is a tad over 15 inches long from head to heel. His muscles and lungs are continuing to mature, and his head is getting bigger to accommodate his growing brain — which is busy developing billions of neurons. Every day, about 200 milligrams of calcium is deposited in your baby's skeleton, which is now hardening. With this rapid growth, it's no surprise that the baby's nutritional needs reach their peak during this trimester.
Week 31
He weighs a little over 3 pounds and is heading into a growth spurt. He can turn his head from side to side, and his arms, legs, and body are beginning to plump out as needed fat accumulates underneath his skin. This is in preparation for his/her arrival into the world and gives the baby more of a newborn appearance.
Week 32
The baby is continuing to grow. His toenails and fingernails have formed. The lungs are continuing to mature but will not reach full maturity for several more weeks. The baby’s skeleton has completely formed, but his bones are very soft and pliable. 8 more weeks to go, hopefully the baby will arrive on time or earlier. Feeling great and began seeing my doc every two weeks. The nesting stage already began and I'm trying to leave everything ready at work and started rearranging the baby and zoe's room.
Week 36
I just had my check up and I'm 1 cm. I'm on the right track only 9 more to go. Four more weeks and he's already in a head-down position. I have been getting lower back pains known as lumbar pain which is common in late pregnancy but Javier makes it all better with his back rubs at night when it tends to be more intense. I will begin to pack my 2 hospital bags(myself & baby's and Michael & Zoe's) in the next week or so when I buy the going home outfit for the baby.
