The Big News

Oh no, I missed my period!!!  So I went in for a blood test and found out that I was pregnant.  The first person I told (beside my husband) was my father.  My daddy was shock and extremely happy - Finally he can be a Grand daddy!!

From that moment on, he treats me as though I was handicap... "BB, you can't do this, BB you can't do that......."  It became worst, when my mom found out.  I was spoiled by having lots of restrictions.  I was treated as Queen at my home!!

This GREAT news quickly spread throughout the family, relatives, church brothers & sisters and friends.

2nd Month
JOB lost???

The news "Canada Life Assurance Company" was sold to "Great West Life" was shocking to me.  As an employee of CLA, I was told that our department will be let go by 2004... which means, I will be losing my job very soon.

All of the sudden, lots of questions start popping into my mind... "how am I going to survive without a job?  How am I going to raise my future baby?, I am not ready to find another job.  Who will hire me after one year on Mat leave......"  I was nervous, so I asked God for help.

God clamed me by giving me a bible verse "Do not be afraid, Only believe." Luke 8:50.

Since then, there was a GREAT peace in my heart.  I felt like God had taken my burden away.  I was able to face my company transition with peace and joy.

Facing a job lost soon is a reality, but I was no longer worried because I know God holds my future.  God had a plan for me.  Although I do not know when and what type of job I will find, but I surely know that there will be a perfect job waiting for me.

Because of this great peace in my heart, I was able to share this news with my church Brothers & Sisters during our 40 days Fasting and Prayers event.  I asked all to pray for me and witness when God answers our prayers.

3rd Month
More morning sickness
Throwing up morning and after dinner was not fun for the past few months... But this did not stop me from gaining any weights.  By now, I gained over 10 lbs... none of my clothes fit me.  I was upset and cannot enjoy the process of pregnancy.  To myself, I looked awful!

4th month
Lots of Pressure

Since I gained weight very rapidly, my stomach was out by 4th month.  Because of this sign, my mom and other relatives kept on saying "this is a boy!"  Every sentence was "he...."  This gave me lots of pressure because BOY in Chinese Family is very important.  This pressure made me HATE pregnancy even more.

An advise I give to you... NEVER ...NEVER tell a pregnant woman that you are 100% sure the sex of a baby .... because you are not an ultrasound machine.

5th month
Job posting

After weighting all sides, I applied for an internal posting at Great West Life which had a lower salary but is closer to where I live.

Once I applied, I began to lose Faith at God.  Internal conflict said "you are pregnant, which company would like to hire a pregnant woman....  it is not an advantage to the company."

Prayers and lots of prayers was the only way to fight through this conflict and regain my Faith to God.

6th month
God answered my Prayers

I made a promise to God that if Great West Life hire me, and if I am carrying a boy, I will name my son Abraham and asked God to use my son in HIS will.

After waiting for more than a month after interviews, I was given the job.  This job was better than what I've applied for.  The company not only did not lower my salary, but also gave me a better position.  I was soooooooo happy and thanked God so much.

God really gave me a perfect job.  As I recalled, in my prayers, I've never ask for a particular type of job, but prayed in Faith and thanking God for placing me with a job soon.  I prayed in way for 6 months and look how GREAT God's work is.  God is never Late & HIS answer is always better than what you asked for.  This current job pays good, workload is great and is only 15 minutes away from my home.

7th month
It's a BOY

At the end of the month, I went for my final ultrasound.  Before going, I asked God to open the baby's legs.... because the baby cross the legs at my last ultrasound.

After 10 minutes into the test, the doctor said - IT'S a BOY!!  I was so happy and relieved..... for the pressure is gone!!!  I can face my mom & relatives.

Because the baby is a boy, I named him Abraham - a promise I made with God.  Thanking God for giving me peace and Faith when I was down.

God is real and is GREAT - He will help you and be with you through every problem.

8th month
Eat Eat Eat

So far I've gained over 40lbs, and I am only in my 8th month.  I can't wait until this is over so I can start my dieting........

9th month
Stretch Mark

During the past 9 months, I prayed so hard for "no stretch marks" on my body.  Priase the Lord that Daniel & Gloria Hau gave me some skin care products called "RILASTIL INTENSIVE".  This product really work.  Not only it prevented stretch marks for me, it always made my belly skin looks & feel better than before.

If you are worrying about stretch marks, you might want to try this product yourselves.  It is made in Italy.

10th month
He is late

Baby did not arrived as scheduled - April 24, 2004.  Instead, he arrived 10 days later - May 5, 2004 at 0:36.

On May 4th, 2004, I was scheduled for induce.  At 9:00am, the doctor applied one gel and then sent me home.  Because I didn't feel contractions, I was told to return to the hospital at 3:00pm to apply for 2nd gel.

Not until 6:00pm, the pain started to come.  The pain was like menstrual pain - except it is more intense.  The nurse said this is not contraction at all, and so I was told to go home.

At 9:00pm, there was some blood, so we (me & Allan) returned to the hospital at once.  I was in deep pain.... still the nurse told me that they were not contractions.  I was shocked to hear.  At 11:00pm, the hospital doctor came and concluded that I am 4cm Dilated.  Then, he also broke my water.  MAN - It was sooooooooooooooo painful.

By 00:00, suddenly I wanted to push.  The nurses had no idea that it came so fast.  One nurse quickly checked me and concluded that I was 10 cm dilated.

The pushing part felt much better than the pain I had.  It felt like pushing "po po".  To me, this part was very easy... I had lots of practice during the last 9 months....hahahahah......  The pushing part was not painful, until the head wouldn't come out.  Finally, my doctor cut the necessary area and AA was born on 00:36 - May 5, 2004.

He was announced 8lbs 10ozs.  A very heavy boy!!  Finally, it was over!!  Praise the Lord that he is a very healthy, active boy - Just like his daddy!!
